Re: Ranger livewell problems Hey guys. I realize this is an old thread, but wanted to share some info I found regarding Ranger Live-wells. I have a 1985 350v and the live well setup was a mess when I bought the boat. The flapper system was missing altogether, although the cables acuators were still there. There was only one pump for both livewells. The other thing to check is looking for hose and connecter leaks. If you have a auto bilge pump maybe the water is being pump out from the bilge without you noticing. On my last boat one of the plastic fittings ended up with a crack. With the boat on a trailer. I would use a garden hose to fill the livewell up. try your livewell controls also.

Nice little flex hose to keep water level. Pop it out to drain. Livewell stays full on plane. Both boats were 1986, my Tracker is in better shape because of the aluminum hull. The trailer I got with the boat was worth alot more than the whole deal, it was a nice Ramlin C channel steel trailer with fiberglass fenders.

The key is make sure the livewell slider fill/empty knob is in the "fill position". If it's in the "empty position" Your livewell water will empty everytime you are on the move. I hope this helps. Before the advent of catch and release for Bass Anglers we did not have live wells in the average fisherman's boat. Many simply used a stringer over the side of the boat.

The problem may be that Ranger recently put in a "Pump out" feature where if the nozzle inside the livewell is puled into the out position it actually pumps out your livewell which would acount for your minnows being "high and dry". You may want to look into putting your boat into the driveway with a hose and experiment with how the system works.
