I have a stacking washer/dryer, the washer is a top loader. Specifically the Kenmore Model #41761712510. It has recently been giving off a rotten egg type scent. I’ve tried cleaning it with baking soda and vinegar, bleach, somebody recommended using cascade dishwashing detergent (yes.. dishwashing. sounded weird to me too) in a full cycle. Nothing is working. After browsing the Internet I did see people are regularly cleaning their drain pump filter. Is that some thing I should be doing? Every v... How to adjust automatic transmission gears. I just moved into a house and I discovered that the washing machine drain doesn't have a p trap or vent so I had a few plumbers come by and one suggested using a yoke trap inside the wall instead of a roof vent so that I could save some money on having someone waterproof the roof afterwards. Would this be an acceptable solution and up to code? I'm in California for reference. I've also tried calling around to find out how much it would cost for a roofer to waterproof the vent but haven't receiv... Hello, I'd like to drain a dehumidifier with pump to where my washing machine drains in the basement. It's a vertical ABS pipe, basically identical to this setup, https://www.hometips.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/washer-install-04-574x765.jpg?ezimgfmt=ng:webp/ngcb101 except there is a flexible coupling between the washer hose and the ABS pipe. I also only have access to around 4 inches of pipe because the rest is behind studs/drywall. The dehumidifier drains by a standard garden hose, what w... Hi all, over the past month or so I’ve noticed every once in a while my laundry room floor is completely soaked. I chalked it up to the actual washing machine being leaky, but I had a tech come over yesterday and he said everything is bone dry in the machine. He did some additional tests and he’s fairly confident the drain pipe is backed up because when the machine is draining, you can hear the water level rising as it got closer and closer to the drain tube/top of the pipe. This makes sense t...

Washing machine drain vent diagram. Also, the corresponding power outlets are near their respective drain / exhaust. The washer is a standard 15A Edison and it would be easier for me to extend that. I have two questions about this: 1) when should I take action about water damage/mold/etc? we discovered the clogged drain when we went into laundry room in our finished basement and saw a minor flood. We have vinyl tile in the laundry room and laminate in the adjoining hallway on top of the concrete slab. Would just the one overflow be a concern? 2) can I snake the drain with a regular plumbing snake or do I need something more heavy duty? Thanks! I recently purchased an Amana top load washing machine and only have a floor drain in the basement of a rental home. The washer manual says I need to buy extra parts to connect to a floor drain, but those parts are $190 with shipping for a break siphon kit, 2 connector kits and an extension hose from their site. Is there a cheaper alternative to buying these parts and having to install them myself? Can I stick a piece of PVC in the drain and put the drain hose in that to give it the height it... During the rinse cycle, the water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the wash tub. If the water inlet valve fails, the washer will continue waiting for the water to enter the washer, causing it to stop mid-cycle.

Plumbing Vent Piping | There is more plumbing vent pipe in this photo than drain piping! The fixture on the left is a washing machine drain box. You can see the 2-inch drain pipe leave the box and go into a p-trap. It connects to a 2 x 1.5 x 2 x tee. I’m a tenant and recently the dryer was repaired. In an attempt to be helpful, I moved the washing machine out of the “closet” so the repair man would have better access to the dryer. I started doing laundry tonight and I began second guessing the drain hose. There are two pipes coming out of the wall. I’m guessing one is for venting but I can’t remember 100% which pipe the drain hose was in before I took it apart. If I post a picture, is there any way someone could help me determine which ... The drain pump uses an impeller to force water through the drain hose. If the drain pump is not working, a light on the control panel might start flashing. To determine if the drain pump is defective, check the pump motor for continuity using a multimeter. If the motor does not have continuity, replace the drain pump. Climate, specifically winter temperatures, also play a role in vent pipe diameters. The pipe has to be large enough to prevent the moist air from condensing at the exit point, freezing, and thereby blocking the pipe. The vent placement on the roof of a house has to be done so that sewer gas won’t go in any open windows.

Hi everyone. I recently bought a nice LG Washer and Dryer for a great price because the Washer wasn't draining. I opened up the washer and cleaned out the hoses (which were very full of gunk and was most likely the reason as to why the machine wasn't draining and why the pumps kept going bad with the previous owners). The drain pump was toast so I recently replaced it. Now it drains but it makes a very loud almost screech like sound. I turned it off and haven't touched it yet, any ideas to w... If a plumbing fixture is located too far from the main building vent stack, then its own drain pipe must have its own vent stack connection piping. The usual slope on the fixture drain piping is 1/4" of slope per 12" (foot) of horizontal distance or "run" of piping. I have looked and looked for an answer to my issue and can't find it. Old house (1964), 1.5 inch drain pipe, and I have had to put a limiter on the end if the drain hose to keep the drain from overflowing during discharge. While it drains without problem, I noticed that suds pour out of the vent on my roof during both wash and rinse cycle discharges.
